Why organic cotton? Because it’s the only choice

Cotton is one of the most widely used materials in fashion, but conventional cotton farming comes at a huge environmental cost. It requires massive amounts of water, relies on chemical pesticides and fertilisers, and depletes soil health over time.

That’s why we only use 100% organic cotton. Organic cotton is grown without harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilisers, using non-genetically modified seeds. This farming method:

• Uses up to 91% less water than conventional cotton farming (source: Textile Exchange).
• Reduces carbon emissions by 46% (source: Soil Association).
• Keeps water sources clean, as it doesn’t introduce harmful chemicals into rivers and lakes.
• Protects farmers from exposure to toxic chemicals, promoting safer working conditions.

All our organic cotton is GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard), ensuring it meets the highest environmental and ethical standards from seed to finished product. And to ensure complete transparency, we work closely with our suppliers, conduct on-site visits, and even carry out random material testing.

Recycled cotton: Giving waste a second life

The fashion industry produces a staggering 92 million tons of textile waste each year (source: Earth.org). But at Lupita Collection, we see waste as an opportunity to create something new.

That’s why we use recycled cotton in select products. We collect cutting waste from our production process, shred it into fibers, and blend it with organic cotton to create a durable, high-quality fabric. This reduces the need for virgin cotton while keeping fabric waste out of landfills.

• Saves water—recycling cotton uses far less water than growing new cotton.
• Reduces textile waste—less fabric ends up in landfills or incinerators.
• Lowers carbon emissions compared to virgin cotton production.

All our recycled cotton garments are GRS-certified (Global Recycled Standard), meaning they meet strict environmental and social responsibility criteria.

Recycled polyester: from plastic bottles to fashion

Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental crises of our time, with over 8 million tons of plastic ending up in the ocean each year (source: National Geographic). Instead of letting plastic waste pile up, we turn it into high-performance fabric.

Our recycled polyester is made from post-consumer PET bottles. Here’s how it works:

• Used plastic bottles are collected and cleaned.
• The bottles are shredded into small flakes, melted, and transformed into fibers.

• These fibers are spun into durable, breathable, and soft fabric.

Like our organic and recycled cotton, all recycled polyester fabrics we use are GRS-certified, ensuring complete traceability and ethical sourcing.

• Keeps plastic bottles out of landfills and oceans.
• Uses 59% less energy than virgin polyester production (source: WRAP).
• Reduces dependency on petroleum-based materials.

Recycled nylon: strong, lightweight & sustainable

Nylon is a tough and versatile material, but producing virgin nylon requires fossil fuels and generates high emissions. That’s why we opt for recycled nylon, made from pre-consumer industrial waste.

• Prevents fabric waste from going to landfills.
• Reduces the demand for new petroleum-based nylon.
• Has a lower environmental footprint while maintaining durability and softness.
